What are the ways to present your blog to the world? There are actually a few ways to create a personal amateur blog and present your opinion or hobby to the world.
There is the possibility of starting a blog on a platform such as WordPress or Blogger. There are also completely different ways to start your own Amateur blog without having to go through the hassle of programming and hosting yourself.
Blogger for example is a free blogging platform where everybody can start a blog without any programming skills. It is owned by Google and gives you the possibility to choose from different templates, install widgets and track your blog’s traffic with ease. You can also connect with other bloggers on Blogger and share your thoughts and ideas!
Another popular way of starting an amateur blog is through the use of Tumblr. Tumblr offers a wide range of features for free users, such as the ability to post multimedia content (photos, videos, etc.), follow other blogs, and customize your blog’s design.
The last popular blogging platform I want to mention is WordPress. WordPress is not just a blogging platform but also a content management system (CMS) that allows you to create a website or blog from scratch. It comes with many features – most of them are free but some require you to pay.

What if the platform doesn’t like the content of your blog or your content, or the free blogging platforms are shut down… for whatever reason… then your content is gone. So you never have full control with these free blogging platforms and in extreme cases your blog can also be switched off or deleted.
You also do not have the option of placing advertising on the free blogging platforms. If at some point your blog is so big and so popular that it is worth advertising there and making money with the “amateur blog”, this will not be possible. For this reason I advise you against these free platforms if you plan to create your own blog!
Now we come to the “homepage builder” providers such as Wix or Squarespace. You can of course secure your own domain there (www.yourname.com), but you have to deal with the rather high monthly costs for the website and hosting.
Also, these platforms can only be expanded to a limited extent. For example, if you need a special function, these providers can quickly reach their limits!
Now I want to share my favorite platform with you, namely WordPress. WordPress is ideal to create your own blog or even to create complex websites. (I mean WordPress.org NOT WordPress.com!)
With WordPress you have all the freedom and there are thousands of extensions and themes that you can install. So you can design your blog exactly as you wish.
You don’t need much to create a WordPress blog. You only need a hosting company that will provide you with the desired domain and web hosting. It’s not as expensive as you think either. You can usually get good hosting including a domain name for as little as 3-4 dollars a month! That’s cheap, isn’t it?
Most hosting companies now also offer a “1-Click” installation for WordPress. That means you can install and get your new WordPress blog up and running with just a few clicks!

Which domain name you want is of course up to you. How about your own name? Or if you want to write your new amateur blog about your horse, for example, with “besthorsetips.com” or “allaboutedgar.com” or “thebestblogabouthorses.com”… you get it… just as an example 😉 There are no limits to your creativity!

This is a question that I get asked quite often. What topic should you write about? Should you be writing exclusively about your own horse or dog (or whatever your hobby or interest is…) or can you also write something completely different on the blog?
I would say that it’s best to stick with one topic. So Google and your audience knows what your blog is about. For example, if you are an expert in horses or dogs, then simply share all your knowledge and experience with others! That’s what blogging is all about! You don’t have to reinvent the wheel for every blog post either, just keep adding new information and new tips. So over time there will be enough content that people are interested in. And once there are enough readers who find what they’re looking for on YOUR blog and come back again and again… then’s only a matter of time until you start making a little bit of money on the side!
But don’t forget: it takes hard work and dedication to write great blog posts that people will want to read. Are you ready to put in the effort?

Would you like to research your topics even better before you write them? There is also the possibility of “keyword research”. That means you write your current blog post around a special keyword.
A keyword, for example, is a specific word that people enter into a Google search. Like “blogging for beginners” or “red shoes”. Some “keywords” are searched more frequently than other keywords. Some keywords are more difficult to rank for or have higher competition than other keywords in a topic.
If you want to try keyword research and don’t want to invest a lot of money in a premium keyword tool, you can try the free Google Keyword Planner, for example. There you can enter a keyword and Google will tell you how competitive that particular keyword is.
With a new blog, you should focus on keywords that have “low difficulty” but high monthly search volume. In this way you can quickly appear with your new blog in the organic search results on google or other search engines.
If you want to spend a bit more money and want even more precise results, I can recommend the tool from AHrefs oder Shine Ranker. With the tool you get even more data on individual keywords.
Can I make money with my amateur blog?
Yes, you can earn money with your amateur blog! Amateur blogs are no different from normal blogs and of course it’s possible to make money with them too. Amateur bloggers who have worked hard and built up a readership over time also earn money on the side. You should always remember that every blog post is an investment in your future earnings! 🙂 And of course it’s much easier for someone to write about something they know a lot about, so if you’re passionate about horses or football or whatever else… then writing an amateur blog is probably right up your alley! So why not give it shot? I’m sure there will be people out there who want what YOU have to offer 😉
The sky’s the limit! It really depends on how many visitors come to visit each month and how much time you invest in building up this online business. If everything goes well then after six months there should be no problem earning $1000 or even more per month from Google Ads or affiliate programs in your niche on amateur blogs.
If you work full-time, then it might be possible to earn $2000+ or more in your first year with an amateur blog. But if you can’t commit yourself fully and only want this to be a hobby… that’s fine too! If the topics you want to write about are interesting enough for other people and your blog gets a lot of monthly visitors, you can use Google AdSense, for example, to monetize your blog.
There are also premium ad networks that pay way more than Google AdSense. Like Mediavine or Ezoic You can join this when you have around 25,000 – 50,000+ monthly visitors to your blog. With the premium ad networks you can double your income again! So, be diligent 😉
There are many bloggers who started their blog purely as a hobby and now earn several tens of thousands of dollars a month through their blog, just through the advertising displayed.
But until then it usually takes a long time! You should give your blog at least six months to be properly ranked by Google and other search engines. You should also continuously write new blog posts in the first six months. At least one blog post per week… the more the better. But still, quality before quantity!
You should also wait until you have reached at least 25,000 monthly visitors before monetizing your blog (this can be faster than you think now). If you choose the right topics that people are searching for on the internet, your blog will also be shown and this way you can build your own audience.
How many blog posts should I write?
As many as possible! Amateur blogs have a huge advantage over normal blogs. Amateur bloggers usually write about what they know best and their readers appreciate the insider tips, for example, that other bloggers don’t know anything about. If you are an expert in horses or football or whatever it is that interests you… then your blog posts will be interesting to others too! And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from blogging so far: people love reading insider information!! So give them what they want 😉 Just make sure that everything you write comes from your own experience (not just something you found on Wikipedia…) because no one wants to read someone else’s opinion when they’re looking for answers online… right? Write down all of your personal experiences and let your readers know what they are getting into if they follow in your footsteps… Amateur bloggers have a huge advantage over normal blogs. Amateur bloggers usually write about what they know best and their readers appreciate the insider tips, for example, that other bloggers don’t know anything about.
So why not give it shot? I’m sure there will be people out there who want what YOU have to offer 😉
But as a rough guide, try to write at least 2 new blog posts per week for the first few months. This is how you will get a foot in google’s door!
But don’t be too disappointed if you hardly get any traffic or visitors in the first three to four months, that’s quite normal. Google must first understand your blog and be able to classify it correctly.
How long does it take to get traffic through google?
Give it time… for the first three to four months, you shouldn’t expect Google to send you many visitors. Your blog must be indexed and ranked by Google’s algorithms before it will start to send you any traffic.
After six months, however, you should start to see a significant increase in traffic if your blog is well written and of good quality!
You can also speed up the process by using social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to share your new blog posts with others. This way, people who are not yet familiar with your blog can quickly become acquainted!
Pinterest is also a great way to promote your new blog posts right away. Are you familiar with Pinterest? Thats where you make these small images and link them to your blog post…
Once you have posted a few pins on Pinterest, you can also create an account for your amateur blog and use it as an additional marketing channel! This is often underestimated but it is very important that people know about the existence of your Amateur Blog. Share links to new posts on all social media channels so that more and more people are aware of what you have created 😉
Is there a way to simplify writing blog posts?
Yes, there are actually a few tricks that can help you to speed up the writing. You can also hand over the writing of the blog posts to other people, but I wouldn’t recommend that at the beginning. There are many platforms where you can order content. For example, iWriter or Textbroker are very popular platforms where you can hire people to write blog posts for you.
There is also the possibility to increase your writing speed and writing quality with the help of AI technology. Jarvis, for example, is currently the best AI platform for producing blog content. With Jarvis, you start writing yourself, and then at some point you hit the compose button, and the AI then continues to write for you.
If you use AI, you should always make sure that you read the text again later and possibly correct it, because AI technology is not always 100% perfect.
